What Does Pediatric Physical Therapy Look Like?

Initial Evaluation

Evaluations are conducted with parent/caregiver present with an ongoing conversation throughout the evaluation to gain medical history, and parent concerns along with functional limitations affecting day to day activities. The physical therapist will also complete a hands-on assessment of your child which could include range of motion of joints, facilitating/assessing developmental milestones, gait analysis, etc all completed in a fun/ low stress environment.

Ongoing Treatment

All treatment is focused around PLAY and can include the following: strengthening through play, taping techniques, stretching utilizing gentle manual technique, proprioceptive/balance training, coordination enhancing activities, sensory integration. Parents are welcome to join in on each treatment session! As a team we will discuss ideas to incorporate in daily routines to keep the progress going outside of one on one treatment time.
